Pharmaceutics Department
Pharmaceutics is concerned with the strategies by which biologically active compounds are presented to the body so as to elicit an optimal response. The department of Pharmaceutics & Pharmaceutical Technology offers the students the opportunity to learn basic principles of pharmaceutics up to the level of novel drug delivery systems. This laboratory provides good facilities for conduct experiments based on Physical pharmacy and Dispensing pharmacy. In the laboratory tech to prepare various dispensing formulation like Tablet, Creams, lotions, Ointments, Suppositories, Gels, Creams, Syrups, Tinctures, liniments etc.
The Department has various instruments such as: Rotary tablet machine, Tablet coating machine, Dissolution apparatus, Distillation Unit, Sieve Shaker, Tablet evaluating equipments, Ampoule filling and sealing machine, Capsule filling machine, BOD incubator, Autoclave, Cooling Centrifuge, Fluid bed drier, Brooke Field Viscometer etc.
Department of Pharmacy Practice
Department of Pharmacy Practice is to demonstrate excellence through performance in the areas of discovery, learning, and engagement. It is introduced to improve clinical and hospital pharmacy services in India and it is the only pharmacy service which is in direct contact with the patient healthcare system and authorized to take critical decisions in in-patient prescription. The curriculum includes various specialized areas like clinical pharmacy, hospital and community pharmacy, pharmacotherapeutics, pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacoeconomics, clinical research to name a few. After completion of this course, students can work in the areas of clinical pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, patient safety, medical writing, drug information services, public health, academic clinical pharmacy, and clinical research.
Department of Pharmacology
The department of Pharmacology is an integrative and interdisciplinary science that takes a dynamic approach to investigate the actions of chemical agents on living systems. The Deparment provides knowledge to students from the basic Anatomy and Physiology to the Clinical Pharmacology. Department provides knowledge to students for dispending the correct medicine to the patients for proper disease with proper instruction.
The Department of Pharmacology has well crafted laboratory and a well-maintained animal house. Animal House facility is maintained as per GCP guidelines and it is approved by CPCSEA. The Department has various instruments such as Sherrington recording drum, levers, Rota rod apparatus, Analgesiometer, etc. and other sophisticated instruments like Student’s Physiograph, Centrifuge. The Department also has various softwares to provide basic understanding of the pharmacological experiments to UG students.
Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry
Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry is comprised of two branches whereby the first, Medicinal chemistry covers the aspects of new drug discoveries and development, drug structure relation Activity, QSAR and the second, Pharmaceutical Analysis cover the UV analysis, IR spectra, NMR study, Mass spectroscopy, Chromatography which help to analysis of raw materials as well as finished products. The department inculcates in students a wide range of knowledge of chemistry ranging from basic understanding of physical, organic and inorganic chemistry to the synthesis and analysis of the drug molecules.
Various instruments are available in laboratories such as Digital Balance, stirrer, water-bath, high-speed centrifuge, Potentiometer, Conductometer, Digital pH meter, Poloarimeter, Colorimeter, Flame Photometer, High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) UV-Visible Spectrophotometer.
Department of Pharmacognosy
Pharmacognosy pertains with disseminating the knowledge of medicinal plants and their use for various diseases. The department provides basic concept of pharmcognosy to the production of pharmaceutical raw materials from natural sources, chemical analysis, phytotherapy and phytochemical screening of plants.
The Pharmacognosy laboratory comprises of high resolution microscopes, Soxhlet Extraction unit, and Distillation unit. The department is also having medicinal plant garden having a varied range of plants, which protracts the scope of research on medicinal plants.
